Ruth’s Library Pick for July
Lewis, Clive Staples. The Weight of Glory and Other Addresses. New York: Macmillan, 1975. Paperback.
Location: Section 9
When I found this little gem in the library and opened it up, I was astonished to find that it has never been checked out of our library. But if you are a fan of C.S. Lewis, you’ll want to be first in line! The Weight of Glory is a collection of nine essays that Lewis delivered to various audiences from 1939 to 1956. The first essay, the title essay, discusses what it means for a Christian to desire the glory of heaven, and how that “glory” may be defined. But don’t stop there; my personal favorites are the last two essays, On Forgiveness and A Slip of the Tongue, which both contain remarkable insights into human nature and God’s Word. So – I encourage you to pick this one up. You’ll find it on the bottom shelf in Section 9.
