"Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And being with you, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:23-26

Ruth graduated from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska in 1978 with a degree in Lutheran elementary education and a church music emphasis. She has taught in Lutheran elementary schools in Defiance, Ohio and Good Thunder, Minnesota and has served other communities and congregations in Missouri and Minnesota as an organist, choir director, coordinator of children's ministries, and volleyball/basketball coach. Ruth completed her coursework and was certified as a Director of Christian Education in July, 2007. Ruth was the organist for the 1998 Lutheran Laymen's League Convention in Rochester, Minnesota and served the Minnesota South District at its 2000 and 2003 conventions as the convention organist. She has written organ preludes for Concordia Publishing House's Hymn Prelude Series and particularly enjoys hymn playing and improvisation.

The message of God's grace and presence in the midst of human struggle carries special significance for Ruth. It is what gives depth and significance to each story and person she finds in the Scriptures.

Ruth's family - her husband Roger and her four sons, Paul, Robert, Timothy, and Benjamin - are the unique joys in her life. When she is not making music or teaching, she enjoys baking, walking, counted cross-stitch, and keeping up with the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and Pistons in Detroit.
